Facts:  National Chocolate Cake Day is a non-official holiday which is celebrated on January 27 each year. This day is to commemorate this sweet treat that's been a part of American society for about 252 years. It's a great day to learn about the chocolate cake, or more likely, t`o serve up a plate of this delicious dessert. Why we celebrate International Chocolate Cake Day The day was cooked up by chocolate cake enthusiasts to celebrate the tasty treat’s rich history. The first known recipe for chocolate cake featured in Eliza Leslie’s cookbook in 1847. 100 years later, and chocolate cake was still a dessert reserved for the few.
