All about India's First Electric Train

When: Almost 91 years ago, on February 3, 1925, India inaugurated its first electric train services.   Where: Daily service began between Bombay VT and Kurla on the Harbor Line.   Facts: #_ A 129 foot high railway gantry was erected to make this possible.  At the time, the structure was billed as the only such traction span in the world. #_ The section was electrified with overhead  1500 Volt DC power Supply . #_ The locomotives for this electric train was manufactured by  Cammell Laird and Uerdingen Waggonfabrik(Wagon Factory).   ~ Amit Shrivastava

Kalpana Chawla- India’s pride, and first Indian-American astronaut

Kalpana Chawla was an Indian-born on(17 March 1962) American astronaut and engineer who was the first woman of Indian origin to go to space. She first flew on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997 as a mission specialist and primary robotic arm operator. Her second flight was on STS-107, the final flight of Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003.
